ABOUT THIS BLOG

You’re here for a reason.

You want to be happy.
You want to be successful.
You want to increase civility in the world.

That’s why I’m here, too.
I wrote The Law of the Garbage Truck™ to help change the way we relate to each other at home and at work.  I want us to create and sustain a more productive, compassionate, and peaceful world.
Together, we can make this world a better place for all of us.
Thanks for joining me.

Blog Mission
The mission of this blog is to help you live The Law of the Garbage Truck philosophy in all aspects of your life.

I want this blog to be a place you can visit each week to help give you the strength, courage, and compassion to live a good life.  Nineteenth-Century Swiss writer Gottfried Keller said, “We don’t remain good if we don’t always strive to become better.”

I want this blog to help you focus on what’s important in your life, not the negative things you can’t control.  “You do not accept garbage.  You do not dump garbage.  You are not a Garbage Truck!”

I want this blog to help give you the confidence to face difficulties, explore opportunities, and meet challenges.  You pursue what’s important to you without accepting or dumping garbage.  You do not fear conflict and challenge, you navigate it.

Thanks
I’m glad you’re here.
Thank you for connecting with our mission.
Thank you for connecting with me.

All the best,

David

Dear David,

I laughed when I read your story about the walk in the park with your daughter. And, one of my first thoughts when I read you would like us to respond was, I wonder if I can do this right. Garbage. I often travel with this fear of not being able to do “it”, and would like to change that. It’s a mind numbing, action freezing habit. There is a copy of your book waiting for me at B&N, about twelve miles from here. On my way soon. Also I want to thank Stephanie Gunning for posting your work on Facebook. We have been literal friends for a while. I so look forward to reading tonight.
Thanks for your great work.

Hi Lane,

Thanks so much for your post! I’m so glad to hear from you.

Remember, perfection is not the goal…just improvement. And Stephanie is awesome!

Let me know when you finish the book…and remember to keep practicing “The Law” every day…it gets easier – and is highly rewarding – with daily effort.

All the best,
David

Mr Pollay

I attended the 1100AM service and workshop at Unity of Delray Beach in October.
During the book signing and I had a brief talk with you and your Assistant ..had to rush back to the HAVEN- where I volunteer on Sundays.
I mentioned that I would like to meet with you to discuss an IDEA that I have of which I think you would be interested
Your Assistant did call during the week, but the time I was preparing for laser surgery on both eyes- I neglected to obtain a phone number to follow up on my recovery.
I am using this medium to resume contact.
Thank you for your cooperation

Great to hear from you! I hope your surgery went great. It was great connecting with you after my program at Unity. I’ll send your note to Becky right now. Thanks for the continued interest.

It was great meeting you, and thanks for the good work you do at The Haven.

All the best,
David

Hi David -
I read your book per suggestion of John McLaughlin of New Way (www.newwaytrucks.com). I gotta tell you, it’s really helped me understand, and cope with being “dumped on,” and it has helped me from doing as much “dumping” of my own. Just wanted to let you know!
Thanks!

Monique Arrucci September 10, 2011 at 3:40 pm

I have read the book and taken the pledge. In the back of the book their are examples of companies that practice the pledge. It also states that if you know of any companies that live by this pledge then you can recommend them for an award. I would love to put the College that I currently attend in for an award. Can someone please contact me in reference to getting this done. I greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

David J. Pollay September 20, 2011 at 8:19 am

Hi Monique!

Great to hear from you! Thanks for reading the book, and taking The Pledge! I just returned from another leg of our tour. I would love to know more about your College! I will email you directly to learn more.

I send all my best,

David
